The trail is removed but the stars on it are gone in other tools. Here?

They're kept. The trail's light is subtracted rather than painted over, so a star sitting on the streak comes back through the subtraction. Check at 1:1 — that's the whole point.

Does it use AI?

No — and that's a design decision, not a limitation. The engine is classical statistics and signal processing: an angle-scan ridge detector, empirical null tests against your frame's own sky, least-squares centerline fits, then subtraction of the modeled trail light. No neural networks, no training data, no cloud — it can only remove light, never invent a star. The only hallucinations in your astrophotography should come from sleep deprivation, not your software.

Do I need a stack of exposures?

No. It works on a single frame. If you do have a stack, clean each sub or the integrated result — your choice.

What files can it open?

16-bit TIFF (the Lightroom round-trip format), plus DNG and common camera raws (ARW, CR2/CR3, NEF, RAF, ORF) and JPEG/PNG. It writes 16-bit TIFF with your EXIF and colour profile preserved.

macOS says it can't verify the developer.

On a first direct-download launch, right-click the app and choose Open. The Mac App Store build won't show this.

Windows SmartScreen warns about the installer.

Fresh installers build reputation over time. Choose More info → Run anyway. The installer is per-user and needs no admin rights.
